Rosa Chiropractic uses Spinal Decompression Therapy for Back Pain
Spinal decompression therapy is a nonsurgical therapy that can help relieve neck, midback and low back pain caused by a bulging disc, herniated disc, pinched nerve root, degenerative disc disease, facet syndrome, and sciatica.
Decompression is a Mechanical Tension on the Spine
Decompression is a type of mechanical traction of the spine. You will be gently strapped into a harness laying on your back or stomach. This harness is what allows for the unloading of the spine and injured disc by the traction motor.
During the pull phase of decompression, the injured discs are stretched allowing for the disc to bulge or herniation to draw back into the center of the disc. This helps bring oxygen and nutrients to the damaged disc, thus helping the disc heal.
Decompression Therapy is Efficient and Quick
The decompression therapy usually last any where from 10-18 minutes. While many patients will feel relief after 6-10 visits, an injured disc needs time to heal as you slowly get back to your normal routine. It is important to understand that even after the pain is gone, you will need to do strengthening exercises to help strengthen your core. This can help prevent further damage to the spine. If you are unsure if decompression is right for you, our chiropractors can help. Contact Rosa Rehab and set up your consultation now!
