It is a painful inflammatory process of the connective tissue on the bottom surface of the foot. It is also one of the most common causes of pain on the bottom of the foot. The plantar fascia is the flat band of tissue that connects your heel bone to your toes. It helps to support the arch of your foot. It is very common to have pain while walking or standing when you have plantar fasciitis.
